President's Report 2010
QSWWA continues to be your community voice.
2009 marked the joining of over 30 businesses making QSWWA unique. QSWWA represents both residents and businesses.
Woollahra Municipal Council acknowledges the uniqueness of your community association where both residents and businesses work together for the benefit of the community. The Woollahra Village (the junction of Moncur and Ocean St) is the centre of West Woollahra. West Woollahra remains Australia’s greatest conserved Victorian architecture precinct. West Woollahra with it’s Woollahra Village is internationally recognised with it’s specialist shops offering a personalised style of service, Victorian architecture, Australian heritage and hidden gardens.
I take this opportunity to acknowledge your elected committee who give their personal time freely to be a voice for you. Years of local knowledge is brought by Ken Gresham (Vice President), Annette Robinson & Di Denison (Editor /Sub Editor of The Original Village Voice) and Phillip Mitchelhill (Street Watcher's Programme)
QSWWA Treasurer Alan Smith provides this non-profit organisation a solid platform to continue. Richard Banks long term business member brings a welcomed balance and new view to issues at hand. Further thanks go to committee members Jennifer Rose, Mary Read with a special mention to Rosemary McDonald and Robin Brampton. It is wonderful to have a McDonald on side. Her mother was a founding member of QSWWA.
Please do visit www.qswwa.com.au , become a member and take the opportunity to make a difference to your community.
Last year main issues were, Woollahra "Holiday" Parking and Woollahra Village upgrade. Both remain on our agenda for 2010. Main objective for 2010 will focus on Woollahra Village or shall I say Woollahra’s Woollahra Village.
QSWWA community events continue to be a great success where the Mid Year Charity Event raised over $4000 for Downs Syndrome NSW. The Annual Christmas Event officially opened by Mayor Petrie and attracted over 400 attendees from the very short to the wise ones of our community. Thankyou goes to both Robyn Cosgrove Rugs and Woollahra Council for their continuing support – not counting your committee and the local businesses.
QSWWA continues to have open communications with Woollahra Council, to maintain your Woollahra Village, your parklands, your facilities in this very unique area.
Elizabeth Gervay, QSWWA President
